Thank you to this year’s participating organizations and individuals who volunteered their time toward making the Camp happen, and the biggest thank you to all the students and families who joined us!
What is Camp Summer Shake Up?
Camp Summer Shake Up is a free, summer program for students in prekindergarten through eighth grade offered by a group of area non-profit organizations and individual volunteers working together with Marfa ISD. The Camp, started in 2013, provides fun activities and free, healthy meals each year during the month of June.
What's new this year?
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are offering all activities in a remote, on-line format at summershakeup.org—we look forward to working with students even if we have to be apart!
Who can participate?
All students are welcome to participate.
Do I need to register my student?
No. All content at summershakeup.org is free and open to the public with no registration necessary.
How much does it cost?
The program and meals are free of charge to any student age 18 and under.
How do I pick up materials for the classes?
If your student is participating in Chinati, Marfa Studio of Arts, or Marfa Live Arts Choir Camp activities, you may pick up their class materials on Thursday, May 28 from 9 - 10:00 am in front of the cafeteria. All the other activities use things you’ll already have at home.
How do I pick up the free meals?
This summer all meals are being served to go. On Tuesday mornings, the school cafeteria staff will distribute a full week of meals at five locations. Meals are available free of charge for any student 18 and under. You may pick up meals at any of the five locations. The time and pick-up sites are as follows:
- School Cafeteria: Tuesdays, 9 - 10:00 am
- Mandos Restaurant Parking Lot: Tuesdays, 9 - 9:20 am
- Apartments at Spring Street and Columbia: Tuesdays, 9 - 9:20 am
- Porter’s Field: Tuesdays, 9:20 - 9:40 am

Where do I find the activities?
From the home page, you can link to any organization, class, or activity. New videos and activities will be posted each morning.
When do the videos post?
New videos will post daily (Monday through Thursday) at 10:00 am and will be archived so you can access them at any time afterward.
What if my student misses an activity?
All activities and videos will be archived, so you can access them at any time and even go back and watch them again!
