Thank you to this year’s participating organizations and individuals who volunteered their time toward making the Camp happen, and the biggest thank you to all the students and families who joined us!
Movement and sound are deeply connected and our bodies react to sounds in different ways. When we hear the pulsing of electronic music we are moved to dance wildly. In contrast, when we hear the ebb and flow of waves at the beach, our response may be to gently sway. In the picture below, dancers from Ballet Folklorico Aztlán at Chinati's Community Day celebration move to the rhythm of traditional folklorico music. Today, we have created a soundtrack of many sounds, from crowds cheering at a sports game to a fog horn bellowing out to ships at sea. What are the different ways your body reacts to these sounds and is moved to... MOVE? Listen to the audio and take a video of the movements you come up with in response. Share your videos with us at #chinatiSSU or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
